The Kilohearts ecosystem runs on modular building blocks: snap a synth or effect into a track, layer it, chain it. The Ultimate & Slate Digital Bundle collects all 10 Kilohearts products — the entire plugin collection — in one download.
Modular Effect Chains for Vocals, Drums, and Buses
- Building complex effect chains on vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments.
- Routing multiple instances across tracks and buses without the crash risk fixed in 2.4.6.
- Working in sessions where you need a modular synth or a utility effect quickly.
macOS 10.13+ with Apple Silicon and 2.4.6 Crash Fix
- The bundle runs on macOS 10.13 and later, both Apple Silicon and Intel (x86 64-bit).
- Interface is in English.
- The 2.4.6 update fixes a crash when plugins load in more than one process at the same time.
VST3, AU, and AAX Registration on macOS
The bundle's plugins register as VST3, AU, and AAX, so they show up in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and any other host that reads those formats. On macOS, the installer places them in the standard plugin folders — no manual copying. The disk-image workflow means you can keep the installer on an external drive for re-deploys across studio machines.
- Works with Apple Silicon natively (ARM 64-bit) and Intel x86, so no Rosetta penalty on M-series Macs.
- Multipass and Phase Plant can be inserted as insert effects or as instruments, depending on the host.
- Sample-loading fixes in 2.4.6 matter if you keep your sample libraries on network-attached or external drives — the ID3 tag handling change prevents silent load failures.
Modular Routing vs. Neutron's Pre-Set Modules
Compared to iZotope's Neutron and Ozone suite, the Kilohearts bundle leans harder on modular routing — you build your own chains inside Multipass or Phase Plant instead of grabbing pre-set modules. Neutron has a mixing-assistant feature; Kilohearts doesn't. What Kilohearts wins on is the per-plugin flexibility: every effect can be a send, an insert, or a modulation source in Phase Plant.
Versus FabFilter's Pro-Q and Pro-C line, Carve EQ and Slice EQ offer similar surgical EQ curves, but the Kilohearts bundle wraps them inside the same unified interface. FabFilter's UI is more polished per plugin; Kilohearts' advantage is that Disperser, Convolver, and Faturator are included without buying separately. For sound designers, Shaper Table and Filter Table give wavetable-style control that FabFilter doesn't match.
Compared to the iZotope Neutron & Ozone or FabFilter suites, the Kilohearts bundle is the better pick if you want one vendor for both synths and effects and prefer a visual, modular workflow over guided presets.
Set DAW Buffer Size to 512 Samples for Tracking
After installation, open Phase Plant or Multipass and check two things:
- Set your buffer size in the host DAW — the plugins don't buffer internally, so the DAW's sample buffer controls latency. Start at 512 samples if you're tracking, drop to 256 or 128 for mixing.
- In Multipass, the default band layout is four parallel bands. If you only need two, reduce bands immediately — saves CPU and keeps the GUI uncluttered.
For Slice EQ and Carve EQ, switch the display from the default narrow Q view to the wide zoom if you're doing broad tonal adjustments. The narrow view is fine for notch work but hides the bigger curve shape.
- Fixed bad handling of some ID3 tag versions that could prevent samples from loading.
- Fixed a crash when plugins were loaded in more than one process at the same time.
- macOS 10.13 or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel (x86 64-bit)
