Drag-and-drop sling with crisp Retina graphics
Controls are simple: drag and release to sling. The remastered graphics look crisp on Retina displays. Since it’s an Apple Arcade exclusive, expect a polished, ad-free experience.
Yes, the game is exclusive to Apple Arcade.
Will my saved progress carry over between computers? Scores are tied to your iCloud account. Sign in on another Mac and your leaderboard data follows you. Level progress is stored locally, so back up the save folder if you reinstall.
Does it work with a controller? The game is designed for keyboard and mouse or trackpad. The slingshot mechanic relies on drag-and-release, which maps naturally to a mouse. I have not tested a gamepad, but macOS can remap keys if you want to try.
Can I play offline? Apple Arcade requires periodic online check-ins.
Rushing shots without using trajectory preview
Skipping the trajectory preview. The game shows a dotted line before you release. New players rush the shot and miss the weak points on stone and wood structures. Take the extra second to aim at support beams, not the center of a block.
Using the same bird for every structure. Red is the default, but Chuck and Bomb have different flight arcs. Chuck curves, Bomb explodes on impact. If a level has deep-set fortifications, Bomb clears more debris in one shot than five Red launches.
Ignoring power-ups. Power-ups appear in later worlds. Beginners tap them without reading the label. Each one changes your bird’s behavior for that shot. Read the icon before you sling, or you waste a boosted bird on a single pig.
Not watching the score tally. Local leaderboards rank you by points per level, not just completion. If you care about the top spot, replay earlier levels with fewer birds. A three-bird clear scores higher than a five-bird clear on the same map.
Forgetting to adjust for eagles. Eagle-assisted levels let you launch from above. The trajectory changes because the bird starts higher. Aim lower than you think you need to.
Checking the leaderboard before starting world four
You open the game from Launchpad. The main menu shows your current world and the leaderboard summary. I usually tap the leaderboard first to see if anyone has beaten my score from last night.
I pick world four, where the levels start introducing eagles. The first stage has a tight cluster of stone blocks with two pigs tucked behind a wooden shield. I select Bomb, drag the slingshot back to about 45 degrees, and watch the dotted line arc over the shield. Release. The explosion catches both pigs and collapses the right pillar. Score: 8,200. Not bad for an opener.
Level two in the same world is trickier. A pig sits on a high platform, and the only weak point is a single wooden strut on the left. I try Red first. The shot clips the strut but does not break it. Second try with Chuck: the curve lets me hit the strut from above, and the whole platform drops. One pig down, two birds used. That is a leaderboard-worthy run if I can finish the rest of the level with the same economy.
After three levels, I check the power-up that dropped. It is a dynamite boost. I save it for the boss stage at the end of the world. The boss has a multilayer fortress, and the dynamite will clear three layers in one shot if I aim at the center seam. I play through the next four levels in about ten minutes, then call it a session. The scores are synced to iCloud, so they will be there when I come back.
