Aiarty Video Enhancer for Mac runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, so the processor generation is not a concern. You do need macOS 13.0 or higher, 8 GB of RAM, and a dedicated GPU with 4 GB VRAM if you are on an Intel Mac. Disk space is another consideration: plan for 512 GB or more free.
Upscales, denoises, and interpolates frames
It upscales video, removes noise, and fixes blurry or low-light footage. Frame interpolation generates intermediate frames to smooth stuttering motion.
Is it the same as Aiarty's image enhancer?
No. This is a separate desktop app focused on video, not part of the image enhancement line.
Gatekeeper fix for launch crashes
People usually ask whether the app works on their specific Mac model first. If you have an Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, M4), you are set. The app runs natively on ARM. If you have an Intel Mac, you need macOS 13.0 or higher and a dedicated GPU with at least 4 GB VRAM. Integrated Intel graphics do not meet the requirement for GPU-accelerated processing.
Another frequent question: can you process video while doing other work? The app uses the GPU heavily during enhancement runs. Expect the system to be occupied while a job runs. The resumable export feature in version 3.8 helps if you need to pause and come back later.
Some users ask if they need to install any AI frameworks or runtimes separately. You do not. The models are bundled in the app package. Install the app, open it, and the models load automatically on first use.
MKV support means you can now import and export Matroska container video without re-wrapping. Older versions required converting MKV to MP4 or MOV first. That step is gone in 3.8.
A real-world scenario: restoring old family footage
A user digitized a stack of MiniDV tapes from the early 2000s. The captured footage was 480i, full of tape noise, and the colors were washed out from age. Standard video editors could not fix the artifacts without making the image look soft or plastic.
This user ran each clip through Aiarty Video Enhancer in a batch. The denoise pass cut the grain and chroma noise. The upscale pass pushed the output to 1080p, and the detail enhancement brought back texture in faces and clothing. The audio denoise module handled the hiss from the camera microphone in one click per clip.
The final result was clean enough to share on a family streaming channel. The app handled both tracks in one pass.
Intel Mac compatibility details
Snag one: the app will not open or crashes on launch. This usually means Gatekeeper blocked the app during the install. The bypass step is to mount the disk image, run the Open Gatekeeper friendly command, press Enter in Terminal, then drag the app into Applications. If it still does not open, you may need Rosetta on Apple Silicon Macs. A VPN connection may also be required for activation to complete the first time.
Snag two: processing is slow or the app hangs on Intel Macs. Check that your dedicated GPU has at least 4 GB VRAM and that the GPU drivers are current. The CUDA memory optimizations in version 3.8 help, but only if the GPU is detected. Open the app preferences and look for the GPU status indicator. If it shows no GPU, the app falls back to CPU mode, which is slower.
Snag three: exported files are not playable. Verify the output format in the export settings. The default is MP4 with H.264. If you need MKV, select it explicitly. The app does not auto-detect the container based on the source.
Snag four: audio denoise does not improve the track as expected. The module works best on consistent background noise like fans, hums, or wind. For irregular sounds like door slams or speech in a crowd, the results are less predictable. Run the denoise on a short clip first to test the setting.
Version 3.8 adds MKV support, resumable exports, and CUDA memory optimizations for faster processing on supported GPUs.
- Added resumable exports.
- Added MKV support.
- Added CUDA memory optimizations.
- macOS 13.0 or higher
- Intel or Apple Silicon processor
- 8 GB RAM
- 512 GB disk space
- Dedicated GPU with 4 GB VRAM on Intel Macs
Questions I get about this line
Yes, it supports Apple Silicon processors, so it runs on M1, M2, and later models.
You need macOS 13.0 or higher.
Only on Intel Macs. Apple Silicon models have integrated GPUs that meet the requirement, but 4 GB VRAM is listed for Intel systems.
The install order
- Mount the disk image.
- Run Open Gatekeeper friendly and press Enter in Terminal to bypass Gatekeeper.
- Drag the app into the Applications folder.
- Open the app. Rosetta and a VPN may be needed.
