Millumin v4 runs on Intel 64-bit Macs with macOS 11 Big Sur. This release is built for live audiovisual shows and interactive setups.
Theater, Videomapping & Interactive Installations
- Theater productions, dance performances, videomapping, and interactive installations.
- Connecting a growing number of devices and software for synchronized playback.
- Online tutorials included to get started quickly.
Intel-Only Build in V4
- Intel-only build: no native Apple Silicon version in V4.
- English interface only.
- A newer V5 release is available from the developer. V4 remains stable for existing workflows.
macOS Ventura & Sonoma Compatibility
Can I run Millumin v4 on a newer macOS like Ventura or Sonoma? Yes, as long as it is Intel-based. The requirement is macOS 11 Big Sur or later, so Ventura, Sonoma and recent releases are fine. Apple Silicon Macs need Rosetta 2 emulation, which works but is not the native experience V5 offers.
Does it work with lighting consoles or MIDI controllers? Millumin connects to a growing number of devices and software. The V4 release supports common protocols for DMX, Art-Net, and MIDI. If you have a specific console or controller, check the device list in the app's connection panel.
The downloaded package is a full release. The app opens with contextual help, so you can start exploring immediately.
Can I use it alongside Resolume or MadMapper? Yes. Millumin sends and receives over network protocols. You can map outputs from one app into another, layer video sources, and sync timelines. The architecture is standard for live visual tools.
Setting Screen Layout & Output Zones
After dragging Millumin to Applications and launching, go to the output panel and set your screen layout. If you use multiple projectors or LED panels, configure the zones there. The default is a single full-screen output.
Enable the timeline ruler in the interface if you prefer frame-accurate cueing. It is off by default. Find it in the view menu or timeline toolbar.
Check the audio routing if your show uses sound cues. Millumin can send audio to a dedicated output separate from video. Set that in the preferences panel before building cues.
Runs Alongside DAW & Lighting Console
Millumin v4 uses macOS window management natively. You can run it alongside a lighting console app or a DAW, switch between them with Cmd-Tab, and keep Millumin on a second display. The app respects macOS keyboard shortcuts for copy, paste, and undo.
For network setups, macOS firewall will ask for permission the first time Millumin tries to send or receive data. Allow it. If you use Art-Net or OSC, the app registers itself as a network service automatically.
Multi-monitor setups work out of the box. macOS Mirror or Extend modes are both fine. Millumin outputs to whichever displays you assign in its output configuration.
V5 Adds Compatibility for V4 Users
The current package is version 5.14.j. No change notes are provided for this specific build. For V4 users, the step up to V5 adds compatibility with macOS versions Tahoe 26 and Golden Gate 27.
Online tutorials now cover V5 workflows. The help center has been updated for the latest release. If you are moving from V4, expect the same core workflow with improved macOS support.
