Opening a session in Logic or Studio One, you’ve got the mix. RipX DAW Pro goes deeper—down to the notes and harmonics. It’s a standalone DAW workflow that sits alongside your usual tools, not instead of them.

Stem cleanup — separates instruments and vocals into stems, then lets you clean each one beyond what a standard EQ can do.

Harmonic editing — adjust overtone levels in individual notes, restore missing fundamentals, and shape pitched and unpitched sounds.

Audio repair — removes background noise, limits foreground artifacts, reduces tones and noise, and cleans up both pitched and unpitched material.

RipScripts — write custom tools in the built-in scripting language to automate or extend the cleanup process.

For Mac users juggling a few audio apps, RipX DAW Pro fills the gap between a typical editor and a full restoration suite. The ripx daw pro full package works as a standalone app, so it doesn’t depend on a host.

Runs Natively on Intel and Apple Silicon

RipX DAW Pro 8.0.3 runs on Macs with macOS 10.15 or later. It supports both ARM (Apple Silicon) and x86 64-bit architectures, so it works on Intel Macs and M-series machines without an emulation layer. The installer comes as a standard disk image — mount it, run the setup, and you’re in business.

The app runs standalone. No VST host, no DAW wrapper needed. That means you launch it from the dock or Applications folder and work inside its own environment. The interface loads the note-level editor, the Restoration panel, and the Harmonic Editor as part of the same window. Expect a dense toolkit, not a minimal layout. The learning curve comes from the depth of control — drawing sound, splitting notes, joining them, and smoothing regions are all there in the menus.

Language is English only. No localization options in this build.

Set Audio Interface Before Editing Stems

Before you start editing stems, adjust a few defaults to match your workflow.

  • Audio preferences — set your interface or Core Audio device under the application’s audio settings. RipX picks up whatever macOS sees, but explicitly choosing your interface avoids sample-rate mismatches.
  • Restoration panel defaults — the noise-reduction sliders default to moderate settings. If you work on heavily degraded material, bump up the background-noise removal level before you process. The app remembers these settings between sessions.
  • RipScripts directory — if you plan to write or import custom scripts, point the script browser to a dedicated folder early. The built-in language uses plain text files; keeping them in a project-adjacent folder saves hunting later.
  • Project template — RipX Pro doesn’t ship with project templates, so build your own default session with the stem-separation and harmonic-editor panels open. Save it as a starting point for new files.

Adjust Overtone Levels on Individual Notes

These features aren’t hidden, but they aren’t in the splash screen either.

  • Harmonic Editor note-level control — you can select individual notes inside a stem and adjust their overtone levels independently. Good for fixing resonances that sit on specific pitches without affecting the rest of the sound.
  • Foreground artifact limiting — the Restoration panel has a dedicated control for limiting artifacts in foreground material. It’s separate from the noise-reduction section, so you can clean up vocal sibilance without dulling the whole performance.
  • Clone characteristics — the tool that copies the sonic profile of one note (attack, timbre, overtone structure) and pastes it onto another. Handy for replacing a damaged note in a bass line with a clean one from elsewhere in the same track.
  • Draw pitch and draw sound — these tools let you draw pitch curves and sound shapes directly onto notes. Useful for correcting pitch drift or creating sound-design effects from scratch. The drawing method takes a few tries to get comfortable with, but it beats editing with a separate synth.
  • Split and join notes — after extraction, notes sometimes merge across phrase boundaries. The split tool separates them; the join tool merges adjacent notes back into one. Both are in the note-editing toolbar.
  • Restoration panel persists across stems — once you dial in noise-reduction settings on one stem, switching to another stem in the same session keeps those settings. No need to re-tune for every track.

RipX DAW Pro lets you isolate and edit individual audio elements like notes and drums. Mount the disk image, install, and the app is ready for deep stem editing and harmonic work.

Questions I get about this line

It offers note-level control over harmonics and overtones, letting you edit individual notes and restore fundamental frequencies, which typical DAWs don't provide.

It provides a standalone DAW workflow, so you can use it on its own without needing a separate host application.

Yes, RipScripts lets you write custom tools to automate and customize the audio cleanup and manipulation processes.

The install order

  1. Mount the downloaded disk image.
  2. Run the standard installation procedure.
