If you already use OmniGraffle for diagrams, wireframes, or process charts, version 7.26 keeps the core workflow intact while adding one important fix: compatibility with macOS Golden Gate 27. That means less friction when you upgrade your OS.
- Import a Visio VSS stencil or VST template — OmniGraffle handles them directly.
- Use the new table feature to group shapes and add rows or columns in one step.
- Convert text into editable shapes for custom lettering.
- Export layers to Photoshop if you need to hand off to a designer.
- Share keyboard shortcut sets with your team.
Artboards, the sidebar, and inspectors for managing canvases all return. The app runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, with interface support across eleven languages. OmniGraffle Pro 7.26 requires macOS 14 or newer and keeps the same stencil and template support you rely on.
Shared Layers for Logos and Backgrounds
Version 7.26 keeps the little things that save time. The shared layers feature is one. You can place a company logo or a repeating background element on one shared layer, and every canvas in that document picks it up. Change it once, and it updates everywhere. No hunting through each artboard.
The shape-to-line conversion works the same way. Draw a complex path, then convert it into a clean line object. That sounds minor until you need to trace an imported bitmap or clean up a hand-drawn wireframe. It gives you vector precision without redrawing from scratch.
OmniGraffle can also scan your Xcode project and produce a diagram of classes and relationships automatically. It is not a live sync tool — you run it when you need a snapshot. For developers documenting existing code, it cuts out the manual box-drawing.
The keyboard shortcut sharing is worth a mention. You can export your custom shortcut set and import it on another Mac. If your team standardizes on a certain layout, one person sets it up and distributes the file. No one has to remap keys individually.
Installation Questions Answered
Direct Visio File Import
Yes. OmniGraffle opens VSD and VDX documents directly. It also imports VSS stencils and VST templates. You do not need Visio installed. The import is not perfect on every corporate diagram, but for the vast majority of process charts and floor plans, the shapes and connectors come through as editable OmniGraffle objects.
Does it export to formats other people can open?
It exports OmniGraffle layers to Photoshop as separate layers — useful if a designer needs to work on your diagram in PSD. It also exports Visio documents as VDX, so someone on Windows with Visio can open your work. Native .graffle files are Mac-only, but the export options give you a bridge.
I work on a Mac with a language set to Japanese or Russian. Can I use it?
The interface ships in English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Russian. Switch languages in the app preferences, and the menus update immediately.
macOS Golden Gate Compatibility
Version 7.26 specifically improves compatibility with macOS Golden Gate 27. If you are coming from an older release, you should replace it with this build. The install routine is the same: mount the disk image, bypass Gatekeeper by pressing Enter in Terminal, drag the app to Applications, and launch.
Best for Technical Illustrators and UX Designers
OmniGraffle Pro 7.26 is most useful for people who produce process documentation or software wireframes regularly. That includes technical illustrators who map workflows, IT architects who draw network topology, and UX designers who sketch application screens before any code is written.
Developers who need to document existing codebases will benefit from the Xcode project diagram feature. It is a one-shot tool, but it turns a class hierarchy into a visual reference faster than drawing it from scratch.
Anyone who collaborates with Windows-based teams on diagrams will appreciate the Visio import and export. You can receive a VSD file, edit it on a Mac, and send back a VDX that opens in Visio. The workflow is not identical to native Visio, but it avoids booting a VM just to move a few boxes around.
For users who manage stencil libraries or template sets across multiple machines, the shared keyboard shortcuts and stencil import eliminate repetitive setup. One person configures the workspace, and the rest import the same settings.
